  2. Jr Reach: The next practice for the jr school reach team is on Friday at lunch in room 208.


  3. Halloween Food Drive: Hey Eagles! Let's get spooky this Halloween and scare hunger.  Me to We will be holding a We Scare Hunger Food drive from October 23rd - October 30th.  Bring in your non perishable food items to your homeroom class from your chance to win a spoooooookyyyy surprise - Donuts!! Students will be delivering boxes to Homerooms on Monday October 23rd during Period One.


  4. Scholarships: Attention all potential grads considering applying to Queen’s University. Grimsby Secondary can nominate one student for The Chancellor’s Scholarship. Open to students with an average of better than 90% who demonstrate creative and original thinking and proven leadership qualities, this scholarship is worth $36 000. If you would like to be considered, please complete your What Have I Accomplished Form which can be found on the guidance page on the GSS website, and give it to Mr. McBride in Guidance no later than Wednesday, Oct 25.


  5. Grad hoodies: Attention grade 12s. This is a reminder that Grad hoodie sales end at 11:59pm today. Sales will not be extended and this will be your only opportunity to purchase a grad hoodie. Don’t miss out!


  6. School Nurse: Just a reminder that the school nurse is in today.


  7. Field Hockey: A BIG congratulations to the Eagles field hockey team who won their semi final yesterday morning.  The girls played an excellent game, defeating a strong Beamsville team 2-1.  Although we failed to best Eden in the championship game, we are still moving onto SOSSA next Wednesday at BDSS.  It has been a tremendous season so far and we are looking forward to more success next week!  Girls, check the messages for information about practices next week and clothing options for our winning season.  Way to go, ladies!


  8. Dress Purple Day: October is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Tuesday, October 24 is Dress Purple Day, a provincial day of action when students and staff are encouraged to wear purple and show your support for child abuse prevention. So wear purple on Tuesday!


  9. Football: Eagles, Eagles, Eagles!!!  Your Varsity Football Eagles did it again.  Back on home turf and hosting the visiting Eden Flyers we were victorious winning 17-8!  It was a hard fought battle and our D played amazing!  Next week we host Governor Simcoe, Thursday at 3pm....See you there!!!


  10. Chess Club: The sign up form for the next Chess Tournament on Nov 3rd is in the library.  Please sign up and pick up your permission form from Mr. Delaney or Mrs Putzman.


  11. Swim team: There is a swim team meeting at lunch on Monday in the health room. This meeting is mandatory for all swimmers.
