Girls’ Soccer: The Eagle Ladies Soccer team showed an incredible amount of resilience yesterday in the Board soccer final. The ladies trailed Sir Winston 2-0 at half time. With the wind at their back, they quickly tied the game early in the second half. Churchill responded, going up 3-2 only to have the Eagles claw back to tie things up at 3. Again, Churchill grabbed the lead late in the game. But they underestimated Grimsby’s resolve. Sure enough, the Eagles scored again to send the game into extra time. An exciting overtime solved nothing, meaning the game would be decided by penalty kicks.G SS goalkeeping made three incredible saves and your Eagles prevailed 2-1. Ms. Smith and Mr. McBride are extremely proud of all the girls. On Monday, the Eagles will play the Niagara Catholic zone winner for a chance to go to SOSSA.
