  1. Curling: Congratulations to the girls curling team! They are Zone 4 champions, winning 9-0 over Dennis Morris yesterday. They will be representing GSS at SOSSA next week. Good luck girls!


  2. Brock Trip: Anyone interested in Visual Arts? or Health Care or Physical Education?There is a trip going to Brock University next week for anyone interested, any grade, in experiencing and learning what Brock University has to offer with their Visual Arts, Health and Physical Education Programs.Lunch is provided.Please see Mrs. Heeringa in the SHSM office if you are interested.Must get the form by today or tomorrow!


  3. Literacy Prep: Students are reminded of Literacy Prep Monday at lunch in Room 204. If you are interested or require information please see Mr. Harshaw or Mrs. Lebeau. Remember you can't change the world, but you can make a dent.


  4. Grad Photo Retakes: Attention grade 12 graduating students. If you did not have a grad portrait sitting in December you have one final chance to be included in the yearbook and Class of 2018 Composite photo. The photographer is returning on Wednesday February 28th in the Library seminar room. There is a link posted on the GSS website to arrange your sitting time online. Please read the important information that will be emailed to you after you book your time. Your graduation portrait...you've earned it! Keep Smiling!

Softball: Interested in playing softball this summer?Come play with the Caistor Minor Softball Association.We need boys and girls age 12-18 to play in our co-ed softball league.Games are Thursday nights at the Caistor Community Centre ball diamonds (also known as Abingdon Diamonds).Sign up Saturday February 24th or Saturday March 24th at the ball diamonds in Caistor or at the Smithville arena, from 10am-12noon.$100 for the season, and you receive an authentic baseball jersey, team photo, plus end of season trophy and gifts.   10. Pancake Palooza:GSS! Want to spend time with your friends and eat your weight in pancakes? It's your lucky day, our annual pancake palooza is coming up on Tuesday February 27th! This year you must bring in at least 1$ to support the upcoming music cruise. Money should be given to your homeroom teachers, anyone with a period one spare can pay at the door. Hope to see you all there, maple syrup will be provided.


  11. Pink Shirt Day:Did you know that one in five kids are affected by bullying? Pink shirt day is about shining a light on what we can do to stop it. Pink shirt day will be held on Wednesday February 28th this year and student council is encouraging you to wear your pink shirts to stand up and show your support to end bullying. We hope to see the hallways flooded with pink.

  13. Alpha: Hey Gss, come on down to room 310 at lunch today to try Alpha. What is Alpha you ask? Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring life, faith and God, and did I mention there's free food? Everyone is welcome!
